Immerse in the forested valley of Kyrchyn. Breathe the fresh air and meander on horse back. Camp under the stars, cook over a fire, and settle into the paces of nature for a few days.
Day 1 | Kyrchyn Gorge
From Bishkek to Kyrchyn valley will be about a 5 hour drive. We will saddle up at the start of the valley, where an experienced guide will meet us with the horses. We will ride for an hour or so to our first campsite, nestled in the lower part of the woodsy valley. Tien Shan firs cover the hillside of this narrow valley, cut out by the Ak-Suu River. The forest is centuries old, and filled with rich vegetation that keeps the air and water crystal clean.
Dinner will be cooked over the fire, and we will camp in tents or out under the stars, as you prefer.
Day 2 | Suttu Bulak lake
Rise to the sounds of rustling birds and trickling water. After breakfast we will saddle up and begin an ascent toward Suttu Bulak, or "Milk Lake". The lake sits at an altitude of 2700 meters, and was formed by an earthquake in 1910. The water is clear and blue, but with strands of milkiness that give it its name. As it is rather high, the lake stays fairly cold through the summer. Remnants of old trees still remain in the water, now overgrown with aquatic plants and providing a home to a healthy ecosystem around the lake.
We will set up tents and camp near the lake, again cooking over the fire and enjoying the serene remoteness of the area.
Day 3| Bishkek
After breakfast we will ride back down the valley to meet the cars in Kyrchyn.
For lunch we will stop in Cholpon-Ata, and visit Lake Issykul before returning to Bishkek.
